The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) is a statutory body set up under an Act of Parliament in the year 1959 & under the administrative control of Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India. The Institute as a part of its obligation, regulates the profession of Cost and Management Accountancy, enrolls students for its courses, provides coaching facilities to the students, organises professional development programmes for the members and undertakes research programmes. The Institute pursues the vision of cost competitiveness, cost management, efficient use of resources and structured approach to cost accounting as the key drivers of the profession. With the current emphasis on management of resources, the specialized knowledge of evaluating operating efficiency and strategic management the professionals are known as "Cost and Management Accountants (CMAs)". In today's world, the profession of conventional accounting and auditing has taken a back seat and CMAs increasingly contribute towards the management of scarce resources like funds, land and apply strategic decisions. This has opened up further scope and tremendous opportunities for CMAs in India and abroad. It aims towards synergizing with the global management accounting bodies, sharing the best practices and it will be useful to large number of trans-national Indian companies operating from India and abroad to remain competitive.
The Institute is the 2nd largest Cost & Management Accounting body in the world and the largest in Asia, having more than 5,00,000 students and 90,000 members all over the globe. The Institution operates through four regional councils at Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai and 113 Chapters situated at important cities in the country as well as 11 Overseas Centre headquartered at Kolkata. Our Institute apart from being a member of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), South-Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), Confederation of Asian & Pacific Accountants (CAPA), National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards (NACAS), and National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NFCG) is also a member of Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board (GASAB). The Institute Placement Cell nourishes and grooms the qualified Cost Accountants with high level of professional guidance to become job-ready. 12 Days Pre-Placement Orientation Program is conducted to transform them to become more industry friendly, skilled and marketable. The various components of the Pre-Placement Orientation Training Programs include sessions on Presentation Skills, Group Discussion Skills, Debate Skills, Interviews Skills & Mock Interviews, Contemporary issues, Professional tit-bits, etc. Company-specific orientation program is also conducted for the target students prior to all the placement drives organized by the Institute.
The ICMAI WIRC office is situated at Rohit Chambers, 4th Floor, Janmabhoomi Marg, Fort, Mumbai - 400 001. WIRC's presence is located in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Gujarat and Union Territories Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu facilitating education in the area of Cost and Management Accounting. WIRC is having 25 Chapters all over the Region and apart from having its own programs for the professionals it also monitors and guides the Chapters formed in western part of the country to cater to professional development of the members of the profession as well as for meeting coaching/training needs of student community in their command area.
Navi Mumbai Cost & Management Accountants Association was formed in 2004. Later on it gave birth to Navi Mumbai Chapter, which was formed in 2008. The Navi Mumbai Chapter of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India started its journey in 2008, to act as a catalyst for extending the knowledge in the field of Cost and Management Accountancy to the residents of Navi Mumbai. As a part of ICMAI's mission to advance the professional growth of members, the Navi Mumbai Chapter has embarked on organizing Annual Seminars, Special Programs and Monthly CEPs to support Professionals, Industry and Trade. The Chapter functions under the guidance and administrative support of WIRC. The Chapter is regularly organizing the Continuous Professional Education (CPE) for its members every month since the past sixteen years. The Chapter also conducts Oral Coaching Classes for students of Final, Intermediate and Foundation courses of ICMAI. The Chapter has further facilitated in opening an examination centre in Navi Mumbai. It is having a website: www.nmcca.in and WhatsApp Group on which various updates including CPE info are posted on regular basis
